For me Yogalates is a beautiful combination of the gentle stretch of yoga with its asanas and mindfulness and the core-building strength and posture awareness of Pilates. Yogalates is quite simply the perfect East meets West fitness class which has the benefits of both Yoga and Pilates. You will leave feeling energised, calm and stretched in all the right places!

Yoga is an eastern Indian tradition that focuses on strength, flexibility, and spirituality. Pilates was founded in the 1920s by German-born Joseph Pilates in an effort to help bedridden patients who needed core strengthening. Louise Solomon of Australia trademarked the yogalates method in 1997.Pilates focuses on building strength in the deep muscles of the abdominal region, the body’s core.

Both practices involve attaining specific postures and deep core work. Both emphasize the importance of correct breathing. Both also emphasize meditative mindfulness.

Despite the hybrid name, Yogalates is a wonderful way to exercise and strengthen your core with many benefits.

Classes are currently on at Bodytech Health Club Shrewsbury on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-7pm. The cost is £6 per session and pay on entry, no booking required.

The benefits of Yogalates

It can be adapted to the needs of people taking it, regardless of their body type. Yogalates helps tone core muscles. It gives you exercise, helps you to strengthen and stretch, improve your flexibility and even possibly lose weight and generally feel energised after each session.

I run weekly classes in Shrewsbury which caters for all. From 5 years of age to adults and I have an accredited Yoga for children qualification and Level 3 Pilates certification as well as being a regular practitioner of both exercises.

I am excited to be embarking on this journey and look forward to offering more and more classes in the studio and online.

I offer Children’s Yoga classes and I am available for parties and one on one Yoga / Pilates sessions- whatever your needs you will receive tailor made sessions to support you on your journey.
